Jesus & Beauty
For years, I’ve been reflecting on how beauty heals. Have you ever encountered something so stunning in nature that you felt awe, encouragement, or comfort? Have you had a similar experience with a poem, movie scene, song, or piece of art that seems to speak to your soul?
God created beauty. It’s not just the art itself that’s healing — it’s the Source behind the beauty that truly can mend a heart.
I love a compelling story. I’ve come to know God as the best Author. The Bible that the Holy Spirit wrote with the various faithful co-authors (Moses, David, Paul, etc.) are comprised of the most riveting stories known to man. Thousands of epic prophecies perfectly fulfilled — Jesus Himself fulfilled 300+. Murders and backstabbing and plot twists. Imperfect people serving a perfect & holy God of love.
The fall of man and the separation it caused from God. The mystery & majesty of the Trinity. The glory & goodness of the Creator God on display. The redemptive purposes of Yahweh as He makes all things new & transforms the lives of His image bearers who choose to love and serve Him. God becoming man in Jesus to die to save us from our sins in the most excruciating way and then performing the ultimate miracle by raising from the dead!
The Bible isn’t just a set of stories & it’s more than objective history. It’s the living Word of God. Scripture heals. The words are beautiful. They fill me with hope daily and leap off the page, putting my life and the world in perspective and blessing me with purpose. It’s been said that we live in the “greatest love story set in a world at war.” The world is a hostile place, but King Jesus Christ’s Kingdom is not of this world — it’s a spiritual reality where the fruit is love, joy, and peace.
These are intense times. Much is at stake. Beauty is being assaulted. Many are professing to know Jesus but their lives are void of love and they don’t speak what’s true. How can this be if God is love & truth?
All one must do is repent (change your way) from your sins (times you’ve missed the mark) where your conscience (given by God) convicts you. Ask Jesus to be Savior & Lord (Master) of your life. Invite Him into your heart & welcome the Holy Spirit to change you from the inside out. He will & nothing will ever be the same. It won’t be easy following Jesus, but eternal life in Paradise is the greatest reward. Join a Jesus loving, Bible-believing, Holy Spirit-led church & plug into their community.
Friend, I’m deeply sorry on behalf of myself and those that truly follow Jesus for the ways Christ has been misrepresented & continues to be in the name of Christianity. God is gentle & kind. Reject the religious people that consistently don’t display Galatians 5:22-23. Focus on the beauty. Explore reading the Bible (I recommend starting with the Gospel of Mark). Check out Bible Project. Pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you. Try listening to Christian music like Brandon Lake. And I invite you now to watch this short video linked here which is “God’s Love Letter to You” : https://www.fathersloveletter.com.
You are loved by God. You are completely known by God. He is the source of all true beauty, and He desires to bring healing & wholeness to your life. Receive His love either for the first time or afresh as you enjoy the beauty & resurrection life that spring brings. May the Lord bless you & keep you, and may His face shine upon you. Shalom!
